The South Carolina Percussive Arts Society Day of Percussion with Rick Latham took place March 23. The event was held at Lexington High School. Rick Latham, a world-renowned drummer and author of the popular drumming book “Advanced Funk Studies,” was the guest artist for the day. He lead a clinic, sharing his expertise and experience with the attendees. Rick focused on the importance of practicing effectively and a wide range of topics, from advanced techniques and styles to the business side of being a professional drummer. He also took the time to answer questions and offer individual feedback to attendees.
The South Carolina Percussive Arts Society Day of Percussion with Rick Latham was a fantastic event that brought together drummers from all over the region for a day of learning, networking, and, of course, drumming. Everyone left feeling inspired and motivated to continue practicing and improving their own drumming skills.
The Rick Latham Crystal Ball Beater is Back!
“This round, acrylic bass drum beater falls nicely between felt and wood beaters. It produces a warmer, deeper sound than wood but has more punch than felt…”
“The Rick Latham Crystal Ball gave me an ideal blend of punch, articulation and warmth on
both 20″ and 22″ bass drums, and I can see using it for just about any playing situation.”
-Rick Mattingly, from Product Close-Up, Modern Drummer Magazine
What They Are Saying About the Crystal Ball Beater
I just bought two of these and I need to buy several more to make sure I have enough for all my pedals. Definitely my dream beater and sound I was going for!
– Ty B.
Hey Rick,
Great seeing you at NAMM. Thank you again for the Crystal Ball Beaters. I’ve been using them everyday and I absolutely love them!!!
Speed and projection, what more could I ask for. I can’t wait to take these out on the road later this year.
– Nick M.
Used mine again last night! Listened back to the board tape and man, that is the bass drum sound I wanted. Plenty of warmth and attack. Thanks Rick!
– Kyle S.
Not only does the “Crystal Ball” kick butt, it also kicks “A@@!!”
– Keith C.
